The practice of yoga consists of stretches, movements and poses which provides stimulation to many of the joints, ligaments and tendons, some of which are rarely used for any extended period of time. Once the body gets used to this stretching one will begin to see and feel the benefits of increased flexibility to your entire body.

Yoga is also a great way to tone your body. Through the stretching of the muscles, moving in a slow precise manner and holding the body in certain positions one will experience the benefits of a more toned and firmer body.

An additional benefit that many do not realize is that yoga also stimulates your glands and organs. Yoga has been proven to stimulate the prostate gland for better prostate health.

The gentle stretching of your muscles and joints when doing yoga maximizes blood circulation in your body enabling your body to eliminate toxins, provide oxygen to your body and in turn increases energy.

Yoga is an great exercise which aids with all aspects of your life both psychologically and physically. Yoga has been used to improve sleep, decrease pains, improve energy, range of movement and also has many mental heath benefits.

Yoga builds strength in your spine, increases your endurance and lowers your stress producing hormones which cause pre-mature aging. Yoga also reduces the acidic conditions within your body which allows the body to absorb more oxygen. Some of the psychological benefits of yoga are an improved nervous system, better concentration, a decreased feeling of depression and anxiety, and a better mood.

Yoga when practiced regularly will put your body in a positive healthy state. This in turn puts your mind in a positive healthy state which helps to keep your body looking and feeling good. Yoga allows your body to continually rejuvenate which increase your positive energy and feeling of well being. You will notice improved posture through a straigher back, elongated hamstrings and an overall feeling of focused energy and a confident state of mind.

So if you desire to not only live a longer life but also to improve the quality of your health, you should be considering adopting the exercise of yoga into your exercise routine. An exercise like yoga provides all the benefits of a low impact program, providing the firming and flexibility of the body along with the benefits of the mind, and spiritual connection through the focused energy and deep breathing, enabling the body and mind to resonate at an optimal level of health.

As the entire planet looks to find improved ways of living and to increase their health and well being, yoga will grow in popularity as a low impact exercise able to deliver the increased well being within your body, enabling all to find better health and improve their quality of life.

swimming is great not only because it is low impact for your body but also because it reduces swelling in the last trimester!

Swimming is excellent! They advise it very much. It is easy, takes alot of stress off you, helps greatly w/swelling. And even if you just lay and relax it will be a great help. I’m almost 31 weeks and I have to swim just b/c my back hurts that bad….

  5. Thora Said,

swimming or yoga. the great thing about yoga is for almost every pose there’s a different level so if you’re pregnant or something, you can take the lighter, easier level and still get a good work out :) Congratulations and Good Luck :)

stationary bike, esp one where you pedal in front of you, not below you. Some free weights couldnt hurt as long as you dont over do it. Ive even seen women at the gym i work at on the elliptical till they look like they’re going to explode children.

you can pretty much do most things you normally would, just keep the intensity down and DO NOT let yourself get dehydrated….but you knew that =)

WALKING, walk every day for 45 minutes to an hour and it will help you stay in shape, get back in shape, and feel better while you are pregnant. It also helps with labor.

Prenatal yoga also saved me. But they also have prenatal pilates and similar classes.

Walking, jogging, swimming, stationary cycling, and aquanatal workouts are all considered good, safe exercise during pregnancy, as long as you don’t overdo it. Yoga and Pilates are good, as long as you find a registered practitioner who is experienced in dealing with pregnant women.

Even if you were active before your pregnancy, you will naturally feel inclined to scale down your exercise routine to accommodate your growing uterus. Additionally, you should follow general workout guidelines for pregnant women. During the first trimester it’s especially important that you avoid overheating. After the first trimester, you’ll also need to eliminate exercises that are performed while flat on your back or while you’re standing in one place for long periods, as both can reduce blood flow to the baby.

Sports with a high potential for hard falls or ones where you might be thrown off-balance are not a good idea for pregnant women. These include horseriding, downhill skiing, gymnastics and waterskiing. Additionally, most doctors and midwives recommend giving up cycling after the second trimester, even if you’re an experienced cyclist, because of the potential for falls. You can, however, use an exercise bike for as long as you like.

In general, you shouldn’t go for the burn or exercise to exhaustion. Listen to your body and stop exercising if you feel if you’ve done too much. Because you’ll have less oxygen available for aerobic exercise, you should generally stick to 60 per cent of your maximum heart rate while pregnant.

If you maintain a healthy exercise routine, 300 calories a day really isn’t that much more food. I weighed 5lbs less than before I was pregnant 1 month after giving birth. I ate healthy and I nursed my baby, which burns 500 calories a day and naturally tones your tummy muscles. Also, the larger bussom automatically makes the rest of you look smaller in porportion.

Be healthy and enjoy your new luscious voluptous self. ;)
